Chine: The Joint Statement on Establishing “Global South Media Partners”

In order to build a platform for dialogue and cooperation among the media of the “Global South” countries, to construct a more equitable, diverse and inclusive global media ecology, to build consensus on development among the “Global South” through media power, and to jointly safeguard the voice and fundamental interests of developing countries, we are willing to jointly establish the “Global South Media Partners” mechanism.

This mechanism will encourage all-round, multi-level practical cooperation including content sharing, business training, joint production and broadcasting, media technology innovation, communication dialogue, content dissemination, and media research among all media partners.

• Content Sharing

The “Global South Media Partners” mechanism provides partners with a content cooperation platform, where partner media can share resources such as multilingual news programs, documentaries and feature films, news materials, live broadcast signals, and customized services.

• Business Training

The “Global South Media Partners” mechanism will launch a series of training programs, and partners can participate in professional training in content creation, brand marketing, new media communication, technological innovation and application in the form of seminars, filed trips, visits and exchanges, etc.

• Joint Production and Broadcasting

Partners are encouraged to strengthen cooperation in joint interviews, joint program production and broadcasting, and mutual resource support.

• Technology Innovation

Partners are encouraged to share the fruits of high-tech applications, while the “Global South Media Partners” mechanism will provide partners with innovative technology application support in news gathering and editing, content production, and film and program translation, empowering partners’ development through technology.

• Communication Dialogue

The “Global South Media Partners” mechanism will hold an annual media dialogue event and a series of regional exchange activities to provide members with a platform for dialogue and communication.

• Content Dissemination

Partners are encouraged to collect and broadcast short videos and programs to promote cultural exchanges and mutual understanding among partners.

• Media Research

The “Global South Media Partners” mechanism will work with partner media to jointly develop the “REPORT ON DEVELOPMENT OF MEDIA IN THE GLOBAL SOUTH” to guide and navigate media industry development through theoretical research.
